Presented is a complete uniform worn by the 1957 Pittsburgh Pirates manager Bobby Bragan. Rarely are two-piece uniforms offered and this gorgeous grey flannel road jersey features light game usage and no tears or repairs. This fine button-down, sleeveless jersey is lettered ”Pirates” across the chest with Bragan’s ”2” appearing on the reverse. All letters and numbers are single-stitched double felt, appearing in black against a gold background. A simple ”MacGregor Size 42” tag is stitched on the inside neck portion on the back of the jersey. The accompanying, matching uniform pants have the MacGregor Size 42 tag stitched inside the waistband and also feature a ”Set 1 1957” near the button. The third artifact in the group is a signed 1960 Joe Gibbons Pirates-issued undershirt. Although not the exact shirt used by Bragan in 1957, the shirt is the style that was worn under these vest style jerseys. The three-piece collection is a wonderful remembrance from the days when Roberto Clemente roamed Forbes Field. According to experts at Mears, the uniform number was removed and replaced but the restoration is a period one. Graded A7 by Dave Bushing and Troy Kinunen/Mears.
