Description

Dedicated Philadelphia Phillies fans will marvel at the abundance of vintage Whiz Kids memorabilia in this collection. The majority of the collectibles feature Philadelphia Phillies players but there are a smattering of Athletics items as well. Included are (105) 1948-51 Bowman Baseball cards, a 1950 Philadelphia Inquirer Fightin’ Phillies 24-card set, (20) 1949-50 Philadelphia Bulletin Pin-ups, (16) 1950s Phillies scorecards (all in VG-EX or better condition), 1951 Phillies yearbook (NM), 1952 Phillies yearbook (NM), (10) 1950s team schedules and a plethora of assorted Phillies 1950s ephemera. The baseball cards include only Phillies players with (2) 1948 Bowman cards (GD), (22) 1949 Bowman cards (GD-EX) with #46 Roberts (VG) and #214 Ashburn (FR), (4) 1950 Bowman cards with #84 Ashburn (GD) and (37) 1951 Bowman cards with #3 Roberts (FR), (2) #186 Ashburn (both EX) and (5) High Numbers (VG-EX to EX). Among the remaining interesting items in this grouping are a rare Hajoca 1950 World Series scorecard, (38) 1947 Fightin’ Phillies window transfer decals, two Philadelphia Athletics season ticket applications (1951, 1954) and an original 1943/44 Philadelphia Blue Jays patch. Lastly, there are five Sunday newspaper inserts from the 1950s loaded with Phillies content, a 1953 Sport magazine with Roberts on the cover (EX) and a fantastic scrapbook chronicling the 1950 NL Championship season. The 1949-50 Philadelphia Bulletin Pin-ups include Ashburn and Roberts (both in the newspaper, not premium form, EX) and the 1950 Philadelphia Inquirer Fightin’ Phillies set is in EX condition and comes in six pages containing four cards each. There are many rare, scarce and unique items in this cornucopia of Philadelphia Phillies and Athletics memorabilia.
