Among the scarcest and revered of all regional issues in the hobby, the 1953-54 Briggs Meats set has been rapidly gaining interest and the dollar figures to match. The Washington Senators cards are even more difficult and command a premium due to the lack of any established superstars. In 1954, few saw the relevance in keeping cards around that did not hold much significance like the Snider, Mantle or Mays would have. Originally used as packaging for their meats products, these cards seldom made it into the collections of children and now the scarcity of these cards make compiling the set or even finding a single card a monumental task. The offered subject is James Runnels of Washington and features bright color and exhibiting little wear. The card has been trimmed from the original package to measure slightly larger than the standard of 2-1/4 x 3-3/8 and the card does display light to moderate staining on the reverse, which is a common occurrence.
