James Emory Foxx was just a kid when Hall of Famer Frank Baker discovered the farm boy on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Foxx was an instant success and by the age of 17 he was playing for the Philadelphia Athletics. As one of the toughest signatures among the 500-homerun sluggers, this 1941 Play Ball presents a masterful signature of Double X in black ink across the center of the card. Highly visible and crisp, the Foxx (d.1967) autograph grades ("8-9") and has been authenticated by SGC and JSA. There is writing on the reverse with Foxx's 1940 batting average and two notations. The card itself has several light creases and corner wear but it is the signature that commands the attention.
