With the country prospering from the post-war boon, 1948 witnessed a pair of entries into the trading card industry, Bowman and Leaf. Highlighted is a 1948/1949 Leaf Baseball complete set of (49, minus short prints) including a pair of PSA Hall of Famers. With a composite grade of (VG) with some better and some lesser, this collection also features the difficult #136 Aberson short-sleeve variation. Leading the way are appropriately graded cards of #79 Jackie Robinson (PSA 5) and #76 Ted Williams (PSA 4). A bevy of other vital key cards are present including: #1 Joe DiMaggio (FR-GD), #3 Babe Ruth (FR-GD), #4 Stan Musial (GD), #11 Phil Rizzuto (FR-GD), #32 Warren Spahn (VG), #38 Kluszewski (VG), #46 Johnny Mize (GD-VG), #49 Ennis (EX-MT, o/c), #53 Vandermeer (GD-VG), #59 Luke Appling (VG-EX), #70 Honus Wagner (EX-MT to NM front, o/c), #72 Edwards (EX-MT), #83 Bobby Doerr (VG-EX), #91 Ralph Kiner (GD-VG), #106 Lou Boudreau (VG) and #136 Aberson (short-sleeve, EX-MT, bleeding). These cards display extremely well and are accompanied with relatively clean edges and moderate corner wear. The first major post-war issue to feature full-colored cards, this Leaf grouping is a prominent collection.
