Spotlighting the 1889 candidates for our nation's highest office, presented are a pair of 1889 N154 Duke Presidential Baseball Club cards. Depicted are Republican candidate Levi Morton and his Democratic foe Allen Thurman battling it out on the baseball diamond. The off-grade pieces of Americana present exceptionally well, with revealing stock captions set against a playing field. The Morton example appears to have been trimmed and reveals moderate paper loss on the back with miniscule additional paper loss on the front. The Democratic candidates card fares better and also reveals paper loss on the reverse with some staining on the right edge. Despite these flaws, these scarce types display very well.
