During his playing days, no player was more admired than John Peter “Honus” Wagner. Wagner was not just good at one aspect of the game; he was great at all of them. He was a prolific hitter, an excellent fielder, incredible base runner and one of the kindest men on the field. In 1936 Wagner was easily voted one of the members in the inaugural class of the Hall of Fame. Presented is a commemorative 1939 Baseball Centennial First Day Cover dedicated to Wagner that has been duly signed by the “Flying Dutchman.” The Wagner script is penned in black ink, vertically, in the center of the envelope. The signature is absolutely gorgeous, grading (“8”). The FDC itself exhibits moderate toning and wear throughout and displays the commemorative 1939 Baseball Centennial stamp in the upper right corner with a Cooperstown, June 12, 1939 postal marking. This is an excellent Wagner signature and display item that comes with a COA from James Spence Authentications.
