From 1969 to 1978 Mark Belanger won an impressive eight Gold Glove awards. He was an Oriole for all but fifty-four of his 2016 games played in the bigs. The presented lot features three collectibles of the popular shortstop. The highlight piece is a 1981 Baltimore Orioles game-used jersey worn by Belanger in his last season with the Birds. The button-up white (home) jersey features double stitched team lettering and numbering on both sides, as well as a double-stitched name plate on the reverse. The inside of the jersey features a makers tag, as well as a set tag reading 81.42.47. Set 1. The jersey, which shows light to moderate use, was altered for Belanger as a keen eye will notice that the jersey had a “4” stitched on either side at one point of its tenure before it reached Belanger. The lot also contains an 8x10 photograph signed by Belanger (d.1998, “8”) and a cracked and repaired, blond Adirondack Flame Treated Big Stick Belanger store model bat measuring 35 inches long.
