Presented is a massive collection of late 19th to early 20th Century dime store novels featuring the adventures of Frank Merriwell as told by Burt Standish. The long series told of the virtuous and morally upright escapades of Frank Merriwell and at times his brother, Dick. These dime store novels were very popular among young boys in the poorer sections of the major cities who rarely saw the greenery and adventures that Merriwell experienced. A definite sports theme can be found in these little treasures with dozens of the novels featuring sports-oriented graphics on the covers. Many copies were passed around and tattered until they were no longer useful and then discarded. The offered collection has braved the years quite well with most books retaining all the original pages and cover. The lot’s overall grade is VG-EX with some better and some lesser. The books began printing in 1898 and ran as a monthly release for more than 20 years. Included in this huge group are issues: #7, #8, #10, #11a, #s 12-15, #s 25-27, #46, #s 63-72, #s 74-107a, #s 109-207 and #s 209-240. With the frail nature of the materials used, these books are in fine condition while featuring a near set run of Frank Merriwell’s fantastic adventures. Due to size/weight of the items, shipping and handling may be substantial.
