The 1903 Washington Senators remain a very noteworthy team. Not because they finished in last place with only thirty-four victories and an abysmal (.314) winning percentage. And certainly not because they finished forty-eight games back of first place and a scary seventeen games back of second-to-last place. The Washington squad of 1903 is, however, noteworthy because it was the last team that legendary slugger Jimmy Ryan and Hall of Famer Ed Delahanty would ever play for. The presented schedule and scorecard hail from the 1903 Washington squad and would bear the names of these two greats had it been scored. The scorecard is in exceptional condition with no stains or tears, displaying edges and corners that are superior to most examples from this era. Interestingly enough the scorecard has not been folded in the middle as is the case with virtually all of the examples found from this era. One side features an unscored ‘home club’ and ‘visitors’ scorecard, while the reverse displays the squads’ home and away schedule as well as an advertisement for Ed. Roche. A phenomenal specimen that simply will not be found in finer condition. Measures 12x4 inches.
