Description

Having officially etched his prominence in Cooperstown, Calvin Edwin Ripken Jr. is the quintessential Hall of Famer. Many have hailed the "Iron Man" as one of the saviors of baseball following the 1994 strike. As a memorial to his greatness, presented is a quintet of difficult Ripken scarcities, including the elusive 1978 Bluefield Orioles program. Just weeks out of high school, an 18 year-old Ripken appears at the ready in the 11-1/2 x 16" Bluefield Oriole program. His first collectible as a professional baseball player, this rarity is in (EX) condition with minor creasing which does not degrade Ripken's uniformed caption. Additionally, a pair of autographed Orioles postcards are also included. Evaluated and encapsulated as "Authentic" by JSA, the 1985 postcard is penned in black sharpie with the signature grading a ("9"), while the 1987 Orioles postcard is signed in blue sharpie with the inscription grading a ("10"). Also present is a 1982 Topps Traded #98 RC (NM-MT) and a difficult 1991 Topps Desert Shield #150 (SGC 92). A formidable grouping for the devoted Ripken fan.
